She shared with me that her business was performing like she thought it should. She had a good product. She had the background and experience, but she couldn’t get the sales she wanted.

As we looked through her communications and customer touch points I noticed

✏️ she was sharing facts not the story

✏️ her communication was inconsistent causing confusion

✏️ she wasn’t connecting how her product met her clients needs

These weak areas were causing confusion with potential customers. Her customer perception wasn’t off. We needed to get her brand in clear focus.

So, we went back to the brand basics and developed a solid brand strategy including

♟️what her brand stand for

♟️Who her target audience is

A successful business that allowed me to flex and A successful business that allowed me to flex and be with my family was the goal. And, it is still what keeps me going.

What is it for you? Keep that in mind as you work towards your goal, and work on these three things

1. Showing your expertise. Remind yourself of your WHY and communicate what you want to be known for. Document your progress. Share your wins and losses. Don’t doubt what you can do.

2. Showing up! Pick a platform and master it. Show up in that space with regularity. It doesn’t have to be every day, but it should have a regular rhythm.

3. Build it to last. Thais means it has to be sustainable for you. As you grow, outsource what is not your top skill. Set boundaries on work hours. Keep learning and connecting with other business owners both inside and outside your niche.

As I am working through my own brand refresh, these are the markers I am working from. These are the keys that will make me successful.

I stumbled around starting by business and investi I stumbled around starting by business and investing in my brand because I thought I wasn’t good enough, ready enough, or capable enough.

Basically, I doubted the human, messy, growing parts of me could do this.

But then, I realized that building a brand isn’t about perfection. It isn’t about hiding our humanness, but it is about harnessing it.

So, I started showing up with all of my typos, wonky camera angles, and messy hair to pursue what I wanted to do.

The more I show up as me, the more I grow and thrive and so does my business.

If you are stuck nursing a side gig you have always wanted to turn into a full-time job, or you have been playing it safe with your small biz because your just not sure you have what it takes to scale, start to show up where you want to be.

With consistency and some grace for yourself, you’ll get to where you want to be.

🖐🏼 if you feel this. Let’s chat in the comments. 👇🏼

Our core values and how we communicate them help u Our core values and how we communicate them help us connect with our customers.
When starting my business I was focused on getting When starting my business I was focused on getting clients and generating income.

The thought of cultivating a set of values that would guide my decisions, interactions and communications was just a wish.

This was ok for a while.

The truth is our brand’s core values may not show a direct link to profit right off the bat, but over time growth begins to slow. Goals can feel out of reach.

Because, our core values do affect our income as they are tied to customer perceptions, loyalty and behavior.

Over the last quarter it was time to make the wish a reality. My ideal customer was changing, growth was slowing…it was time to reset.

So, I paused. I evaluated

✏️ what was important to me

✏️ what was important to the clients I wanted to work with

I wrote out 7 values and turned them into an actionable list.

These are the statements that will guide my decisions, interactions, and communications. They will be the foundation for my marketing, customer processes, and all interactions.

These are the foundational building blocks of a successful brand.

So you have a list of core values for your brand? Share one or two in the comments.

Have you thought about how you define success late Have you thought about how you define success lately?

This is something I have been thinking a lot about. Starting my own business was a way for me to pursue a successful career and life.

But, over the last few years how I view success has been changing. A slow shift in direction that had me rethinking what I do and why I do it.

Because ultimately, how we view success, determines our core values. The fundamental belief that guide our decisions both personally and professionally.

So, as I have been reevaluating what I value the things I offer, the processes I set up, and the people I serve I have felt it all shifting.

I’m not going to lie, it seemed a little scary! Then, I learned it is all the normal process of brand evolution.

Leaning into the evolution of your brand is how a business maintain a strong market position. Small incremental changes in your identity, messaging and offerings are healthy.

Our brands should adapt and change over time. Brands that resist change become outdated.

So if you’re feeling the shift, pause and reflect. Start with how you are defining success. You will be glad you did.

JTD is evolving and you can come along on the journey. Like and follow to journey with me.
